Wholesale Inflation Increased More Than Expected in January

Inflation at the wholesale level rose 0.7% in January, more than the expected 0.4% increase.

The figures released by the U.S. Labor Department on Thursday suggest it could take more time for consumer prices to dissipate with prices being up 6% on an annual basis.

The increase could prompt the Federal Reserve to hike the interest rate again in an effort to cool price gains and tame consumer demand.
