RAYNE, LA – The community of Rayne is gearing up for a vibrant two-day Acadian Day celebration, inviting everyone to embrace and honor the area’s rich Acadian heritage. The event, outlined in a recently released flyer, features a schedule packed with cultural activities and live entertainment for all ages.
The festivities begin on Friday, August 15, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the historic Bernard Bertrand House, located at 1023 The Boulevard. The day’s events are free and open to the public, starting with a traditional Tintamarre, a parade-style noise celebration, at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a French Table at 10:30 AM, providing an opportunity for French speakers to gather and converse. A lively Cajun Jam Session is scheduled for 11:00 AM, and attendees will also have the chance to see an Artifacts Display and a sneak peek of the “Mervine Khan Legacy” video trailer.
The celebration will continue into the evening on Saturday, August 16, with an Encore Celebration at 7:00 PM at the American Legion Arceneaux Post 77. This event will feature a second Tintamarre and live Cajun music, promising a night of joyous celebration. Admission for the Saturday event is $10 for individuals aged 16 and up, while children 15 and under can attend for free.
The organizers encourage all community members to participate, with a message that resonates deeply with the spirit of the event: “Celebrate our roots. Share our stories. Pass it on!”
