The Port Barre Cracklin Festival is happening this weekend in Port Barre. A whole festival dedicated to the southern snack that is made by deep-frying chunks of pork in its own rendered oil…twice. While you can find cracklins in almost every local grocery or gas station stop in St. Landry Parish, there’s one place you have to go to get them fresh—sample fresh pork cracklins at the Annual Port Barre Cracklin Festival. Every year, since 1985, locals and visitors alike have dashed to the small town of Port Barre November 14-16th to sample this Cajun treat.
On Sunday, there will be a Cracklin Cookoff. If you would like to participate in the Cracklin Cookoff being held on Sunday, November 16, 2023.
