A fire severely damaged the concession and second floor of the tower at Carencro’s Pelican Park.
Pelican Park was built in the 1980s by Schilling Distributing or a company associated with Schilling Distributing. The City of Carencro, via the Parc Commission of Carencro, purchased the facility in the 1990s.
Recent years have seen Pelican Park see more competition as brand-new facilities have been built in Broussard and Youngsville.
The Youth Sports market and its economic impact have been highlighted as a boost for the local economy in recent years.
