The Louisiana Senate is preparing to consider legislation that will impact economic development in Acadiana. Senate Bill 480 would do away with the North Lafayette Redevelopment Authority. It’s an agency that’s been inactive for years. Under the plan, the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) would take over the agency’s responsibilities.

A new law has taken effect in which 17-year-olds in Louisiana can now be charged as adults and they will be booked into adult jails.
