Today’s Country Legend was born July 3, in Texas City, Texas,

grew up on a dairy farm in nearby Alta Loma, now part of Santa Fe, Texas

In high school he formed a rock n’ roll band, called the roadrunners

Racked up 17 top 40 country hits in the early and mid-1980s.

Got his big break when he met Mickey Gilley and actually convinced Gilley that they already knew each other despit meeting for the first time.
