Growing up in Lubbock Texas he was in the shadow of the Great Buddy Holly.

In 1974, this country legend was awarded the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year award.

This country legend wrote many songs for Elvis Presley while working as a staff songwriter for Nancy Sinatra, and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000.

This Legend passed away after heart surgery on September 29, 2020.
