Today’s Country Legend was born April 29th in Abbott, Texas. wrote his first song at age seven and joined his first band at ten. In High School he was a halfback on the football team, guard on the basketball team, and shortstop in baseball. He also raised pigs with the Future Farmers of America. In 1960 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and later signed a publishing contract with Pamper Music which allowed him to join Ray Price’s band as a bassist.
