Farmer’s True Value hardware store in Rayne, a building that’s over 100 years old, was engulfed in flames. All employees were able to vacate the building safely firefighters worked to contain the blaze for several hours. Monday was owner Daniel Simoneaux’s 50th birthday. Firefighters from Rayne, Crowley, Branch and Mire were on the scene of the blaze.

Lafayette police have released a list of upcoming events to honor and remember Sr. Cpl. Segus Jolivette, the SWAT officer killed in the line of duty during a standoff in Jeanerette. Tuesday, July 30: A Candlelight Vigil at 6 p.m. at the Lafayette
